From Assessment to Enterprise-Wide Infrastructure Transformation
Bedroc helps a major U.S. healthcare provider scale from initial site assessments to a comprehensive network and wireless modernization initiative.
AT A GLANCE
16 initial facility assessments
40 locations included in the expanded technology refresh
9,700+ engineering, architecture, and project management hours
200 individual site remediations
The First Step Toward a Larger Transformation
A leading U.S. healthcare organization was preparing for a large-scale infrastructure upgrade across its facilities. Before moving forward, the organization needed a clear understanding of its existing network environment, including wireless coverage, low-voltage cabling, internet circuits, phone locations, unsupported network devices, and the condition and capacity of communication closets.
With infrastructure varying from location to location, the organization needed an experienced partner that could assess each environment, document existing conditions, identify potential challenges, and provide the technical foundation needed to plan a broader modernization effort.
It Started with 16 Sites
Bedroc was initially engaged to conduct comprehensive onsite assessments across 16 healthcare facilities, evaluating the technology, infrastructure, and operational conditions that would shape the organization’s modernization strategy.
Bedroc’s engineers worked directly with facility contacts at each location to document the current state of the environment and what would be required to support a broader technology refresh.
Each assessment resulted in a detailed site report that gave the organization a clearer, more actionable view of its existing infrastructure. The reports helped stakeholders understand the scope of work at each facility, prioritize remediation needs, estimate implementation requirements, and make more informed decisions about the sequence and scale of the modernization effort.
What began as a focused discovery and assessment engagement quickly became the foundation for a much larger initiative.
Expanding into a 40-Site Technology Refresh
Following the assessment work, the healthcare organization engaged Bedroc to support a network and wireless infrastructure upgrade across locations nationwide.
The expanded engagement included engineering, architecture, and project management resources to take the project from initial planning through deployment and final documentation.
Bedroc's team provided support across five key phases:
Planning and Discovery: Bedroc coordinated with stakeholders and facility contacts, reviewed existing site assessments and design documentation, evaluated current configurations, and verified physical infrastructure requirements.
Build and Preparation: Engineers coordinated low-voltage cabling, validated equipment against bills of materials, upgraded switch firmware, applied baseline configurations, staged network equipment, and prepared wireless access points for deployment.
Deployment and Migration: Bedroc coordinated maintenance windows and change requests, migrated core and access switches, transitioned wireless infrastructure, performed post-cutover validation, and provided day-two support.
Architectural Oversight: Network architecture resources provided additional oversight during migration windows to help maintain consistency and address technical challenges throughout the rollout.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Following deployment, Bedroc delivered updated as-built configurations, network diagrams, floor plans with updated access point placement, and configuration adjustments needed for project closeout.
The 40-site engagement represented more than 9,700 hours of engineering, architecture, and project management support.
Addressing Site-Specific Remediation
As the broader infrastructure initiative progressed, Bedroc also supported targeted remediation needs identified at individual facilities.
At one specific healthcare facility, Bedroc was engaged to assist with the installation and commissioning of 52 wireless access points, including required mounting hardware and updated Cat 6 cabling. The work included coordination with low-voltage resources, installation documentation, testing results, as-built documentation, and photographic verification of completed work.
This ability to move from broad infrastructure planning to site-specific remediation allowed the organization to address individual facility needs while continuing to advance its larger modernization strategy.
The Result
What began as a 16-site infrastructure assessment developed into a comprehensive, multi-location modernization effort spanning 40 healthcare facilities, and many individual site remediations.
By supporting the organization from assessment to implementation, Bedroc provided continuity throughout the project lifecycle and helped transform initial findings into actionable infrastructure improvements.
The engagement demonstrates the value of beginning with a clear understanding of the existing environment. Rather than treating site assessments as a standalone exercise, Bedroc used that foundation to help the organization plan, execute, and support a much broader network and wireless transformation.
